About Acceler 8

Acceler 8 is a motorcycle racer squeezed onto the PICO-8 fantasy console, all chunky pixels and a road that bends toward you in old arcade pseudo-3D. You start in a pack of eight bikes, and the other seven want to beat you.

No two roads match. The game builds each track as you ride, with hills, curves and trees and signs along the verge. Ordinary cars share the road too, and they're the hazard, so you'll spend half your time hunting for gaps. The rival riders hunt for them as well, switching lanes to get around traffic.

You pick from three regions, three race times and six bikes, and races can run at day or night. There's a results screen at the end. A race takes a few minutes, and you can play Acceler 8 online here. It's Acceler 8 free to play in a tab, with no download.

How to Play Acceler 8

  • Steer with the arrow keys.
  • Hold Z or C to drive and tap X to brake.
  • Got a gamepad? It works in the browser too.
  • Pick a region and a bike, then line up with the other seven riders.
  • Watch for cars and swing around them early.
  • Cross the line, then check the results screen to see how the race went.

What to Expect in Acceler 8

It's a small arcade racer with a lot of care in the look and the sound. You read the road as it comes at you, because every crest hides what's next, and the hills and bends are different from one race to the next.

The game has grown through updates: new music, day and night races, a results screen, rivals that dodge traffic, and bigger trees and signs. After a few races you get a feel for when to lift off and brake into a bend.

Tips for Acceler 8

  • Brake with X before a sharp bend instead of drifting wide into the roadside.
  • Look past the bike in front of you for gaps. Cars cost you as much as rivals do.
  • Try all six bikes before you settle on one.
  • Race at night too, since it looks different from the day races.
  • If the arrow keys feel cramped, plug in a gamepad.

Who Made Acceler 8

Acceler 8 was made by Bright Moth Games and released on itch.io. It was built for PICO-8 with lo-fi pixel art. FunClicker embeds the creator's own version so you can play it here without downloading anything. We did not make the game, and the credit for its design, code, and art belongs to its creator. You can find the original on the Acceler 8 page on itch.io.

FAQ

Is Acceler 8 free?

Acceler 8 is free. Press Play above and you're in.

How do you play Acceler 8?

Steer with the arrow keys, hold Z or C to drive and press X to brake. A gamepad works too. Pick a region and a bike, then race the other seven riders and keep clear of the cars sharing the road.

What is the goal in Acceler 8?

Beat the other seven riders to the finish, and weave past the traffic on the way. When the race ends, a results screen shows how you did, so after the first run the goal becomes a better finish than last time.

Who made Acceler 8?

Acceler 8 was made by Bright Moth Games. We embed the original itch.io build, and there's a link back to it on this page.

Are the tracks in Acceler 8 the same every time?

No. The game builds each track as you ride, with hills, curves and roadside objects, so the layout keeps changing. There are also three regions, three race times and six bikes, which add more variety on top of that.

Can I play Acceler 8 on a Chromebook or phone?

A Chromebook or laptop is the easy choice, since the game needs only a browser and the keyboard. A gamepad works too, even on the web. A phone is the awkward option because the game wants keys or a controller to steer, drive and brake.

Is Acceler 8 unblocked at school?

Acceler 8 unblocked works anywhere this page can open. It needs no download, but school networks run their own filters, so we cannot promise it will load.

Does Acceler 8 have traffic and day and night races?

Yes to both. Cars share the road with you, and the rival riders change lanes to dodge them. Races also run by day and by night, with a cycle between them, and there are three regions and three race times to ride through.
