About Word Guess

Word Guess is a five-letter word puzzle, free in your browser. You get six tries to find the hidden word. After each guess the tiles change color — green means the letter is right and in the right spot, amber means it's in the word but somewhere else, and grey means it's not in the word at all. Play a fresh Daily word that's the same for everyone, or switch to Unlimited and guess as many words as you like. Your streak and stats save automatically. No signup, no download.

How to Play

  • Type any real five-letter word and press Enter to submit your guess.
  • Read the colors: green = correct letter, correct spot; amber = correct letter, wrong spot; grey = not in the word.
  • Use those clues to narrow down the answer over your next guesses.
  • Solve the word within six tries to win — the fewer guesses, the better.
  • Play the Daily word once a day, or switch to Unlimited for endless new words.

Tips & Strategy

  • Open with a word rich in common letters and vowels — starters like CRANE, SLATE, or ADIEU reveal a lot fast.
  • Use your second guess to test five brand-new letters if the first told you little; ruling letters out is progress.
  • Watch for repeated letters — the answer can use the same letter twice, which is easy to overlook.
  • Keep amber letters in play but move them to a new position; don't waste a guess repeating a spot you know is wrong.
  • When only a couple of slots are left, run through likely letter patterns in your head before committing.

The Word-Puzzle Family

Guess-the-word games are an old idea — the pen-and-paper game Jotto and the TV show Lingo both used colored-clue word guessing decades ago — but the daily five-letter format exploded in popularity in 2022 and spawned a whole wave of word games. The family now includes daily word puzzles, five-letter guessing games, and endless-practice variants across sites like the New York Times Games, Merriam-Webster, and countless browser clones. Word Guess on FunClicker gives you both sides of it: a shared Daily puzzle to compare with friends, and an Unlimited mode for as many rounds as you want — with streaks, a guess-distribution chart, and stats that save every game.

FAQ

How do you play Word Guess?

You have six tries to find a hidden five-letter word. Type a real word and submit it; the tiles turn green for a correct letter in the right spot, amber for a correct letter in the wrong spot, and grey for a letter that isn't in the word. Use the clues to zero in on the answer.

What do the green, amber, and grey colors mean?

Green means the letter is in the word and in the exact spot you placed it. Amber means the letter is in the word but belongs somewhere else. Grey means the letter isn't in the word at all. Together they tell you which letters to keep, move, or drop.

What's a good first word?

Pick a five-letter word packed with common letters and a few vowels — CRANE, SLATE, TRACE, and ADIEU are all strong openers because they test many likely letters at once. A good first guess narrows the field before you've spent much of your six tries.

What's the difference between Daily and Unlimited?

Daily gives everyone the same hidden word each day, so you can compare results with friends, and you play it once. Unlimited serves a fresh random word every round with no daily limit — perfect for practice or when you just want to keep going.

Can a letter appear twice in the answer?

Yes. The hidden word can contain the same letter more than once — words like APPLE or LLAMA — and the coloring handles duplicates correctly. It's a common thing to overlook, so keep double letters in mind when you're stuck.

Is Word Guess the same as Wordle?

It's the same style of daily five-letter guessing game that Wordle made famous, with the familiar colored clues. Word Guess is our own version — it adds an Unlimited mode for endless play alongside the shared daily puzzle, so you're not limited to one word a day.

How is my streak counted?

Your streak goes up each time you solve a word and resets if you fail one. The game also tracks games played, win percentage, and how many guesses you usually need, all shown in a stats view and saved to your browser.

What happens if I run out of guesses?

If you don't solve the word in six tries, the round ends and the answer is revealed so you learn it. In Unlimited you can jump straight into a new word; in Daily you'll see the answer and a countdown to the next day's puzzle.

Does my progress save?

Yes. Your streak, stats, and daily result save to your browser, so they're there when you return. There's no account — everything is stored locally on your device.

Is Word Guess free and unblocked?

Yes — completely free, no signup, no download. It runs in any browser on desktop, phone, tablet, or Chromebook, and it works on school networks where many game sites are blocked.
