About Candyween
Candyween is a cute Halloween game about cats, ghosts, and stolen sweets. Bad ghosts have taken the candy from a little witch, and you play her loyal friend, a black cat. Your job is to find every piece of candy the ghosts scattered and bring it back to the girl before the real and dangerous night begins.
You do not do it alone. A group of kittens follows you, and they are the ones who pick up the candy. You walk the mother cat with the keyboard and guide the kittens with the mouse, pointing them at the sweets you want. The challenge is that the kittens are fragile. Barking dogs frighten them into dropping candy, and ghosts will take candy from a kitten that wanders too close.
The game was made in 72 hours for the Ludum Dare 56 jam, where the theme was tiny creatures, and the creator has since released version 2.0.0 with full screen support. You can play Candyween online for free here, with nothing to install and no account to create.
How to Play Candyween
- Move the mother cat with the W, A, S, and D keys.
- Move the kittens by clicking with the left mouse button, and point them toward the candy you want them to collect.
- Bring the kittens close to a piece of candy to pick it up. The glowing indicator gets brighter the nearer you are.
- Press E to display enemy sight zones and see where the nearest candy is.
- Press Q to taunt and draw an enemy's attention, so the kittens can slip across a dangerous zone.
- Collect all the candy and return it to the little witch.
What to Expect in Candyween
Expect a charming mix of puzzle and stealth. The pixel art is warm and appealing, but there is real planning involved, because you must keep the kittens clear of dogs and ghosts while still collecting everything. The mother cat cannot be affected by ghosts or dogs, so she is your tool for distracting enemies while the kittens cross.
The itch.io page lists the average session as a few minutes and tags the game as cute, isometric, and Halloween themed. It supports keyboard and mouse input. The original jam version, 1.0.1, is also available in the downloads section of the page.
Because the game began as a jam entry, it has a tight, focused design with no filler. Each level asks you to read the patrol patterns, split your attention between the mother cat and the kittens, and decide when to take a risk. Candyween is a seasonal treat that is gentle enough for a relaxed evening and clever enough to keep you thinking.
Tips for Candyween
- Use the taunt on Q to pull an enemy's gaze away before you move the kittens through its zone.
- Press E often. Seeing the sight zones makes it much easier to plan a safe route.
- Keep the kittens away from barking dogs, since they drop candy when scared.
- Send the kittens toward candy one group at a time instead of rushing in all at once.
- Remember that the mother cat is immune to ghosts and dogs, so let her take the risks.

FAQ
Is Candyween free?
Yes. Candyween is free to play in your browser on this page. There is no account to create and nothing to install. Press play, take control of the black cat, and start gathering candy for the little witch. The only thing it asks of you is some careful kitten wrangling.
How do you play Candyween?
You move the mother cat with WASD and guide the kittens with the left mouse button. Point the kittens at candy so they collect it, avoid barking dogs and ghosts, and bring everything back to the little witch. Q taunts enemies, and E shows their sight zones and the nearest candy.
What is Candyween about?
Bad ghosts have stolen candy from a little witch, and you are the black cat who is her friend. You lead a group of kittens to find all the scattered sweets and return them before the real night begins. It is a cute Halloween puzzle and stealth game with a gentle tone.
Who made Candyween?
Candyween was made by megurte, who did the programming and game design, with art by awootis. It was built in Unity for the Ludum Dare 56 jam. FunClicker did not create it. We embed the creator's own browser build, and the credit link leads to their itch.io profile.
Can I play Candyween on a Chromebook or phone?
A Chromebook with a current browser should run it in a tab. The itch.io page lists keyboard and mouse as the inputs, and the game uses both WASD and mouse clicks together, so a phone is a poor fit. A computer with a keyboard and mouse is the safest way to play.
Is Candyween unblocked at school?
It needs only a browser tab, with no download, plugin, or login. Whether it opens on a school or library network depends on that network's filter, which we do not control. If it loads, it is a light, cute game that runs in a normal tab.
Is Candyween scary?
No. Despite the Halloween setting, Candyween is a cute puzzle and stealth game with pixel-art cats, a little witch, and cartoonish ghosts. The page describes the night as dangerous, but the tone stays light. It is a good pick if you want a seasonal game without any real horror.
What happens to the kittens in Candyween?
The kittens are fragile. Barking dogs scare them, and when they are scared they drop candy. Ghosts will also take candy from any kitten that comes within range. The mother cat cannot be affected by ghosts or dogs, so you can use her taunt to protect the kittens.
