About Mausoleosis
Mausoleosis is a pixel-art RPG Maker horror game that begins with an impossible letter. David's mother writes to say she is lonely and frightened and needs him to come and bring her home. The problem is that she died twenty years ago.
He could throw the letter away. Instead he heads to the mausoleum where she was laid to rest, flashlight in hand, to find out who sent it and why. On the way he meets Iris, a young woman searching the cemetery for her lost cat, and before either of them can turn back, the door shuts behind them. Now they are both inside.
The Mausoleosis game that follows is a compact mix of exploration, strange puzzles, and choices that steer the story toward one of four endings. The mausoleum is a lovingly drawn place of bones and scurrying rats, thick with the smell of decay, and its soundtrack was composed for the game. You can play Mausoleosis online here for free, with no download.
How to Play Mausoleosis
- Move David through the mausoleum with the keyboard and interact using the confirm key the game shows you.
- Examine statues, plaques, and inscriptions. That is where the puzzle clues live.
- Note the names and dates on the tombs. Births and deaths can turn out to be the answer to a lock.
- Solve each puzzle to open the next door and go deeper inside.
- Stay alert to Iris and what she notices when your paths cross.
- Make your choices carefully. They decide which of the four endings you reach.
What Makes Mausoleosis Scary
Mausoleosis draws its fear from grief as much as from the dark. A letter from a dead parent could be a cruel prank or something far worse, and the game keeps both possibilities alive for as long as it can. The mausoleum itself turns out to be much larger than a family tomb should be, and the deeper you go, the more you wonder what it was really built for. Iris adds another layer of tension: she is a stranger with her own reasons for being there, and being locked in the dark with someone you barely know is uneasy all by itself.
The puzzles are deliberately odd, which adds to the feeling that the place runs on its own rules. The wind, your own footsteps bouncing off stone, and statues that never seem to look away make every corridor feel airless. Expect bones, rats, and heavy themes of death and loss.
Tips for Mausoleosis
- Write down every name and date you read. You will probably need some of them later.
- If a puzzle seems to make no sense, look again at the statues and inscriptions nearby.
- Explore every side room before pressing on. Clues are spread across the whole building.
- Think before you choose. With four endings, small decisions matter.
- Keep the sound on to hear the original soundtrack and the eerie ambience.
- Replay after your first ending to see how different choices change the outcome.

FAQ
Is Mausoleosis free?
Yes. Mausoleosis is free to play in your browser on this page. There is nothing to download, no account to create, and no payment needed to reach any of the endings. The developer also offers free downloads for Windows and macOS on itch.io. Here, just open the page and step into the mausoleum.
How scary is Mausoleosis?
Mausoleosis is atmospheric and eerie rather than relentlessly frightening. It builds tension through a mystery about a dead mother, a vast and gloomy mausoleum, odd puzzles, and a creepy soundtrack. Expect bones, rats, and dark themes of death and grief. It suits players who enjoy story-focused pixel horror with a slow, unsettling pace.
How do you play Mausoleosis?
You guide David through a mausoleum, exploring rooms, examining statues and inscriptions, and solving puzzles that use clues such as names, number sequences, and dates. Along the way you make choices that affect which ending you reach. Move with the keyboard and interact using the confirm key the game shows you on screen.
Who made Mausoleosis?
Mausoleosis was created by A. V. Dossow and the artist Kazu, also known as Milkienut, for the 20th RPG Maker Horror Jam. Kazu provided the art, and A. V. Dossow composed the soundtrack. The game is published on itch.io. FunClicker embeds the creator's own browser build and did not make the game.
Can I play Mausoleosis on mobile or Chromebook?
Mausoleosis runs well on a Chromebook, since it plays in the browser and uses simple keyboard controls. On phones and tablets, RPG Maker browser games often accept touch input, but the experience can vary by device. If touch feels awkward, a computer with a keyboard is the most reliable way to play.
Is Mausoleosis unblocked at school?
Mausoleosis runs in an ordinary browser tab with no plugins or installs, so it gets past the usual technical blocks. Whether your school or work network allows this site depends on its filter settings, which we cannot change. Keep in mind that it is a horror game with dark themes about death and loss.
Does Mausoleosis have jump scares?
Mausoleosis is driven more by atmosphere, mystery, and puzzles than by constant jump scares. Its unease comes from the setting, the sound, and the question of what is really waiting inside the mausoleum. Sudden moments are always possible in horror, so keep the volume comfortable, but slow dread is its main tool.
How many endings does Mausoleosis have?
Mausoleosis has four endings. Which one you reach depends on the choices you make as David explores the mausoleum, so a single playthrough will not show you everything. Replaying and deciding differently is the way to see them all, and the game's compact size makes repeat runs easy to fit in.
