About Lidar

Lidar is a horror exploration game in which you cannot simply see where you are going. The world is dark, and your only tool is a scanner that reveals walls, floors, and objects as clouds of glowing points. Each scan lights up a little more of the map, and each scan also tells the creature hunting you exactly where you are.

That trade is the whole game. You want to know what is around you, but the louder and wider the pulse, the more likely something comes looking. Lidar gives you four kinds of scan, ranging from quiet whispers to huge floods, so every decision about how to look carries a cost. The levels are procedurally generated and grow harder as you go.

The result is a stripped-back, atmospheric survival horror game that looks unlike most others. The creator, GrazuleX, describes it as a game about being alone in the dark, and the visuals do exactly that. You can play Lidar online for free in your browser, with no download and no account.

How to Play Lidar

  • Move with the arrow keys and press Space to send out a scan that maps the area around you.
  • Use Q for a quiet whisper scan, E for a ping, and F for a big flood scan. Larger scans reveal more but are noisier.
  • Hold Shift to sprint and Ctrl to crouch, which helps when you need to move without drawing attention.
  • Press T to lure the creature away from your path, and R to interact with things such as terminals.
  • Find the terminals scattered around each level and use them to unlock the exit.
  • Reach the exit alive. Then do it again on a harder, newly generated level.

What Makes Lidar Scary

Lidar turns the usual horror problem upside down. Instead of fighting the dark with a flashlight, you build a picture of the world one pulse at a time, and the picture is always incomplete. Points fade, corners stay hidden, and the monster is a shape you sense more than see. Spatial audio carries much of the dread, so headphones are strongly recommended.

Because the levels are generated fresh each time, you cannot memorize a route and relax. The itch.io page does not list content warnings, but expect a hostile creature, a constant sense of being hunted, and sound that is designed to unsettle.

The creator also notes that the game uses AI assistance in its code, graphics, sounds, and text, which the itch.io page discloses openly. What matters on screen is the look: a world drawn from light points instead of solid surfaces, which makes even an empty corridor feel strange. Lidar is a compact, stylish idea that a few minutes will explain.

Tips for Lidar

  • Start with small scans and escalate only when you are lost. Quiet information is cheaper than loud information.
  • Wear headphones. Spatial audio tells you where the creature is when your scan cannot.
  • Crouch when you hear something close, and sprint only when you have a clear path.
  • Use the lure to pull the creature away from the route you need, then slip past.
  • Look for terminals early. Knowing where the exit unlock sits shapes the whole route.

Who Made Lidar

Lidar was made by GrazuleX and released on itch.io as a browser build. FunClicker embeds the creator's own version so you can play it here without downloading anything. We did not make the game, and the credit for its design, art, and sound belongs to its creator. You can find the original on the Lidar page on itch.io.

FAQ

Is Lidar free?

Yes. Lidar is free to play in your browser on this page. There is no account to create and nothing to install. Press play, let the game load, and start scanning the dark. The only price is the tension of knowing that each pulse can be heard by something that wants to find you.

Is Lidar scary?

It is built to be. Lidar is a horror game about being hunted while you can barely see, and its glowing point-cloud visuals and spatial audio make the dark feel alive. If you like survival horror that relies on sound and uncertainty rather than gore, it should be right up your street.

How do you play Lidar?

You explore dark levels by sending out scans that reveal the world as glowing points, find terminals to unlock the exit, and reach it without being caught. Move with the arrow keys, scan with Space, and use the other keys for quieter or louder scans, sprinting, crouching, luring, and interacting.

Who made Lidar?

Lidar was made by GrazuleX and released on itch.io. FunClicker did not create it. We embed the creator's own browser build, and the credit link on this page takes you to their itch.io profile, where you can see their other projects.

Can I play Lidar on a Chromebook or phone?

A Chromebook with a current browser should be able to run it in a tab, as it is a WebGL game. A phone is a poor fit because the controls rely on many keyboard keys, such as the arrows, Space, Shift, and Ctrl. A computer with a keyboard is the best way to play.

Is Lidar unblocked at school?

It needs only a browser tab, with no download or login. Whether it opens on a school or library network depends on that network's filter, which we do not control. It is a horror game that leans on sound, so headphones are a good idea wherever you play.

Does Lidar have jump scares?

The itch.io page does not say. It does describe a creature that hunts you in the darkness and that is alerted by your scans, so sudden encounters are part of the design. Keep your volume at a level you can handle, and remember that louder scans make an encounter more likely.

Are the levels in Lidar the same every time?

No. The levels in Lidar are procedurally generated, and the difficulty increases as you progress. That means you cannot rely on memorized routes. You have to read each new space with your scanner, decide how loud to be, and find the terminals that unlock the way out.
