About Not Involved

Not Involved is a dark fantasy horror visual novel by Stray Feet about a doctor who cannot stop trying to help people, even when it costs him dearly. The story begins with a letter. An old friend, Amari, writes that they are unwell, that time is short, and that if you want to see them one last time, you should use the worm.

That journey takes you through a strange, decaying land full of disease, unsettling creatures, and secrets no one is eager to explain. Travel itself comes at a price, since riding the giant worms means giving up memories of your own. Along the way you meet odd, sometimes kind, often unnerving characters, and each conversation raises more questions than answers.

The art does a lot to set Not Involved apart. Lideil's distinctive style pairs pixel art with detailed character portraits, giving the game the feel of an illustrated novel. It makes even the strangest inhabitants, from gentle skeletons tending the fields to birds that talk, feel oddly believable.

At its heart, the Not Involved horror game is about the cost of caring for others. The Doctor has to balance helping the people around him with looking after himself, and the world does not always reward a kind heart. If you are drawn to story-rich visual novels with a strong sense of place, a distinctive art style, and real stakes, this one stands out.

How to Play Not Involved

  • Click with the mouse to select dialogue options and interact with the world.
  • Press Space or Enter to continue through dialogue.
  • Press Esc to open the menu.
  • Read carefully and explore each location to uncover more of the story.
  • Make choices that decide how you help others and what you are willing to sacrifice.
  • Watch how your decisions change the Doctor and open or close later options.

What Makes Not Involved Scary

Not Involved builds its horror from a world that feels sick at the edges. Disease, strange creatures, and a creeping sense of decay run through every place you visit, and the idea of trading away pieces of your memory just to travel is quietly disturbing. The game rarely explains itself outright, so you are left piecing together what is happening while the Doctor's own sense of self starts to wear thin. Nothing here is safe to take at face value.

The stakes are personal and physical. Helping someone can mean being beaten, shunned, or worse, and the game asks how far you are willing to go. Not Involved contains blood, graphic images of violence, self-harm, and spiders, and it explores themes of depression, so approach it with care.

Tips for Not Involved

  • Take your time with dialogue. Many characters hint rather than explain.
  • Think about each sacrifice before you make it, since choices carry forward.
  • Pay attention to how the Doctor changes. His appearance reflects your decisions.
  • Explore each area fully to uncover the mysteries hidden in the world.
  • Plan for a longer session. The two available chapters take around 30 to 40 minutes.
  • If the web version gives you trouble, the creators suggest trying a downloadable build.

FAQ

Is Not Involved free?

Yes. Not Involved is free to play online in your browser, with no download, account, or purchase required. The creators made it free so more people could experience it, and they rely on patron support to keep developing new chapters. FunClicker embeds their own browser build from itch.io.

How scary is Not Involved?

Not Involved is a dark, heavy story rather than a jump-scare game. Its horror comes from a decaying world, unsettling creatures, and painful sacrifices. It contains blood, graphic images of violence, self-harm, and spiders, and it explores depression. It suits mature players who want a serious, atmospheric dark fantasy story.

How long is Not Involved?

The creators estimate that the two chapters currently available take around 30 to 40 minutes to complete. Not Involved is still in development, and more chapters are planned. Because your choices affect later options and the Doctor's appearance, you may want to replay to see how things change.

Who made Not Involved?

Not Involved was made by Stray Feet, with a unique art style by Lideil. It is released on itch.io and supported by the studio's patrons. FunClicker did not make the game; we embed the creators' own browser build and link to the Stray Feet itch.io page so you can follow new chapters.

Can I play Not Involved on mobile or Chromebook?

Not Involved runs in a browser and uses the mouse, Space or Enter, and Esc, so a Chromebook works well. It may load on phones and tablets, but the browser version is designed around a mouse and keyboard. If the web version gives you trouble, the creators recommend trying a downloadable build instead.

Is Not Involved unblocked at school?

Not Involved needs only a browser tab, with no download or plugin, so it avoids most technical blocks. Whether it loads on a school or library network depends on the local filter, which is outside our control. If this site opens, you can usually play Not Involved unblocked. It contains mature content.

Does Not Involved have jump scares?

Not Involved relies on atmosphere, tension, and disturbing content rather than jump scares. Its unease comes from the decaying world, strange creatures, and the sacrifices the Doctor makes. It does include graphic images of violence and blood, so read the content warnings before you start if you are sensitive to that kind of material.

Is Not Involved finished?

Not yet. Not Involved is still in development. Two chapters are available now, taking roughly 30 to 40 minutes together, and the creators have said more chapters are on the way. Your choices affect the Doctor and later options, so returning for new chapters can be especially rewarding.
