About Soul Void Redux

Soul Void Redux is a surreal, Game Boy-style horror adventure about a lost soul trying to find the way home. You arrive in a strange dimension with no idea why you are there. A cold statue greets you, a light points the way, and from then on you are wandering the odd, shifting landscapes of the void, meeting other souls who are just as lost as you are.

It is an exploration game at heart. You talk to the drifting spirits you meet, help them with their problems, and piece together what this place is from the fragments they give you. Some are gentle, some are sad, and some are openly menacing behind a friendly smile. Along the way, the journey turns inward, and the demons you face are as much yours as the void's.

The Soul Void Redux game is a remastered version of the original Soul Void, rebuilt with a soundtrack, refreshed art and color palettes, a save system, and a range of quality-of-life improvements. It runs from about one to three hours, which makes it a proper adventure rather than a quick scare. You can play Soul Void Redux online here in your browser.

How to Play Soul Void Redux

  • Move with W, A, S, D or the arrow keys.
  • Press E to interact with characters and objects.
  • Press Q to open the menu, where you can check your items and notes, save, and change settings.
  • Talk to every soul you meet, and talk to them again. Repeat conversations can reveal hints.
  • Pick up items and bring them to the characters who need them to complete side quests.
  • Save your progress at the glowing hearts you find in the dark.

What Makes Soul Void Redux Scary

Soul Void Redux is eerie rather than violent. Its horror is the unsettling kind that comes from strange places and stranger company: faceless figures trembling in the dark, a hulking spirit in an old diving helmet, and characters whose welcome sounds a lot like a threat. The limited Game Boy palette makes the void feel sparse and dreamlike, and the new soundtrack gives it a haunting, melancholy undertone.

It is also emotionally heavy in places. The game is about loss, confusion, and confronting what you would rather not face, and it lets those themes breathe instead of rushing you through them. It is surreal and creepy rather than gory, with more sadness in it than shock.

Tips for Soul Void Redux

  • Make sure Caps Lock is off. The game's keyboard inputs are case-sensitive.
  • Save often at the hearts, especially before heading into unfamiliar areas.
  • If the music does not play after loading a save, step off the screen and back on.
  • Use the movement speed options and helpful cheats in the menu if backtracking starts to drag.
  • If the game boots to a black screen, try a different browser.
  • Stuck on a quest? The creator has written a guide on the game's itch.io page.

Who Made Soul Void Redux

Kadabura created Soul Void in GB Studio and released it on itch.io, later updating it with the Redux version in June 2023. The update added a soundtrack, retouched graphics, a save system, new characters and quests, and even a downloadable ROM that runs on Game Boy hardware. FunClicker embeds the creator's own web build without changes. For the ROM, the soundtrack, and the guide, visit Kadabura on itch.io.

FAQ

Is Soul Void Redux free?

Yes. Soul Void Redux is free to play in your browser on this page, with no account, no download, and no purchases inside the game. Open the page, click into the game, and your journey through the void begins. A save system lets you stop and pick up where you left off.

Is Soul Void Redux scary?

It is eerie and unsettling rather than frightening. Soul Void Redux builds its mood through strange landscapes, lost and sometimes menacing spirits, and a haunting soundtrack. It is not gory, and much of its weight is emotional, dealing with loss and facing your inner demons. It suits players who like surreal, melancholy horror adventures.

How long is Soul Void Redux?

Soul Void Redux takes roughly one to three hours, according to its creator. That makes it a full adventure you may want to spread over more than one session, which is where the save system helps. Side quests and hidden dialogue can stretch it further if you like to explore every corner.

Who made Soul Void Redux?

Soul Void Redux was made by Kadabura, an independent developer who built it in GB Studio and released it on itch.io. The Redux update arrived in June 2023 with a soundtrack, new art, and a save system. FunClicker embeds the creator's original web build with credit. We did not make the game.

Can I play Soul Void Redux on mobile or a Chromebook?

A Chromebook with a keyboard works well, since the game runs in a browser and uses simple keys. Phones and tablets are not a good fit. Soul Void Redux is controlled with WASD or the arrow keys, E to interact, and Q for the menu, and the browser version does not offer touch controls.

Is Soul Void Redux unblocked at school?

If your network allows this site, Soul Void Redux should load, because it needs only a browser tab with no download, plugin, or login. Whether a school or workplace filter lets it through depends on that network, not us. It is a creepy, surreal adventure with some emotionally heavy themes.

Does Soul Void Redux have jump scares?

Soul Void Redux is a slow, exploratory adventure rather than a jump-scare game. Its creepiness comes from its characters, its dreamlike Game Boy visuals, and a soundtrack that keeps the mood haunting. You move at your own pace and talk to the souls you meet, so it is a calm but unsettling experience.

What is new in Soul Void Redux?

The Redux update added a soundtrack, retouched or fully updated graphics and color palettes, a save system, an easier-to-read font, movement speed options, easier backtracking, and helpful cheats. It also brought new and updated characters, dialogue, and quests, adjusted map layouts, and a downloadable ROM for real Game Boy hardware.
