About A Long Walk Home

A Long Walk Home is a walking simulator game about the worst kind of quiet. You went to Mr. Lane's garage sale hoping to find a new game, and now it's getting late and you have to get home. The streets do not stay ordinary for long.

The neighborhood slowly turns into a liminal space, an empty stretch of road that feels wrong without ever telling you why. Your job is to poke around for cracks, holes and other clues. You move in a first-person 3D view, and it's all exploring. It's built in RPG Maker, which gives it a rougher, homemade feel.

Open the tab and you can play A Long Walk Home online with nothing to install, and A Long Walk Home free means no account or payment either. A full walk takes about an hour, and going fullscreen first makes a real difference to the mood.

How to Play A Long Walk Home

  • Click inside the game once so it picks up your keys, then press F3 and hit the fullscreen button.
  • Walk with W, A, S and D and look around with the mouse.
  • Hold Shift to run, and press Space to interact with things you find.
  • Press X for the menu. Setting look sensitivity to around 370 in the 3D options feels about right.
  • Check the cracks, holes and odd corners along the street for clues as the evening gets later.

What Makes A Long Walk Home Scary

There's no big setup here. The scare comes from emptiness: a street you know how to walk down, suddenly with nothing on it and something slightly off about every corner. You spend your time looking around, not reacting to anything. It's a slow, spooky game that leans on mood.

The controls are about as small as they can be: movement, a run key, and one button to interact. That leaves your attention free for the place itself, and for working out which cracks and holes might mean something. Plan on a quiet hour.

Tips for A Long Walk Home

  • Go fullscreen before you start and turn the lights down. The game depends on atmosphere.
  • If the mouse feels twitchy, open the menu with X and adjust the look sensitivity.
  • Walk first and run later. You'll spot more clues at walking pace.
  • Press Space on anything that looks out of place, since interacting is how you find things.
  • Wear headphones if you can. Empty places sound louder than busy ones.

FAQ

Is A Long Walk Home free?

A Long Walk Home is free. Press Play above and you're in.

How do you play A Long Walk Home?

Click the game first, then move with WASD, look with the mouse, run with Shift and interact with Space. X opens the menu. For a bigger picture, press F3 and then the fullscreen button. If the mouse feels off, tune the look sensitivity in the menu's 3D options before you head out.

Is A Long Walk Home scary?

It's scary in a quiet way. A Long Walk Home puts you in an empty, liminal street that feels creepy and slightly wrong, and the unease comes from the place, not from fights. If empty hallways and silent streets get under your skin, this will, so play it somewhere dark and calm.

How long is A Long Walk Home?

A full walk takes about an hour, give or take. You'll spend most of it checking every crack, hole and corner for clues, so a careful player runs longer and someone who hurries through will finish sooner. It suits a single quiet evening.

Who made A Long Walk Home?

That's DOMINO CLUB. A Long Walk Home came out on itch.io, and we link back to it from this page.

Can I play A Long Walk Home on a Chromebook or phone?

You need a keyboard and a mouse, since you walk with WASD and look with the mouse. A laptop or a Chromebook with both works well. A phone is a poor fit for these controls, and A Long Walk Home plays best fullscreen on a bigger display.

Is A Long Walk Home unblocked at school?

A Long Walk Home unblocked works anywhere this page can open. It needs no download, but school networks run their own filters, so we cannot promise it will load.

What is the goal in A Long Walk Home?

You want to get home through a strange, empty version of the neighborhood after Mr. Lane's garage sale. Along the way you search for cracks, holes and clues that hint at what's going wrong. There are no scores to chase, so treat it as an exploration game.
