About Retirement Dungeon
Retirement Dungeon is a cute, non-violent stealth game about old dungeon creatures. When they get too old, they're sent to the Retirement Dungeon to enjoy their last days, but a new owner has banned pets, and nobody is enjoying anything.
So you sneak in. You're there to cheer up the residents, and the guards and security cameras are the problem. Grab a few treats for yourself along the way too. You pick a pet before each level, and everything is about staying out of sight.
It was made for Pirate Software Game Jam 14, where the theme was It's Spreading. You can play Retirement Dungeon online in your browser, and Retirement Dungeon free of any download lets you start sneaking in a minute.
How to Play Retirement Dungeon
- Click inside the game window first, then try the keyboard and mouse to move.
- Pick a pet at the start of each level.
- Sneak through the rooms and stay out of sight of the guards and cameras.
- Reach the residents and give them some company.
- Collect treats along the way.
- Press Q to bail out of a level, but read the note below first.
What to Expect in Retirement Dungeon
It's gentle stealth. Nobody gets hurt, and nothing is graphic. The tension comes from guard routes and camera sweeps, and the reward is a happy resident.
One known issue: leaving a level with Q and starting another can skip the pet menu and leave you stuck. If that happens, reload the game, and your saved progress will still be there. If you like cozy, low-stakes sneaking, it's a charming one.
Tips for Retirement Dungeon
- Watch the guards for a moment before you move. Their patterns tell you when to go.
- Check where the cameras point before you cross a room.
- Think about your pet before each level. It comes along for the sneak.
- Grab treats when it's safe, and skip them when it's risky.
- Avoid pressing Q to quit a level. Reload the game if you want to start fresh.
