About P.E. Noire

P.E. Noire is a point-and-click adventure set in Sunnyside Elementary School, and you play the hall monitor. The halls are crawling with shady characters, and it falls to you to help the other students and keep the troublemakers in order.

Everything runs on the left mouse button. You walk the halls, talk to people, pick things up and work out what's going on. There's one useful warning: items in your inventory cannot be combined, so do not waste time trying.

You can play P.E. Noire online in a browser tab. A run takes about half an hour, and it was made for a jam, so it keeps to a tight little story.

How to Play P.E. Noire

  • Use the left mouse button for everything: look, talk and pick things up.
  • Walk the halls and speak with the students you meet.
  • Help the students who need it, and keep an eye on the troublemakers.
  • Pick up items and use them where they make sense.
  • Do not try to combine items in your inventory. That's not supported.

What to Expect in P.E. Noire

Expect a light, playful adventure. A school setting and a hall monitor hero take the usual noir setup and make it funny, and the stakes stay small. You do not need to know a thing about detective stories to follow it.

The cast is full of shady characters, so there's always someone to talk to and a problem to deal with. Because you only click, the controls get out of the way and the game is about talking to people and thinking.

It's a compact jam game, with music by Grahm Nesbitt and everything else by one small team, so the tone stays consistent. P.E. Noire free in the browser makes a good half hour if you like short adventures with a sense of humor.

Tips for P.E. Noire

  • Talk to everyone you meet. A school hall is full of people with something to say.
  • Click on anything that looks interesting, since a hall monitor gets to poke around.
  • Pick up items when you see them, but do not try to combine them.
  • If you're stuck, walk the halls again. Things you missed are easier to spot the second time.
  • Keep track of who is acting shady. It's the heart of the job.
