About Curseball

Curseball is a retro pixel-art arcade game with one rule: hit the ball before the timer ends. There are 14 curses and worlds to get through, and each one changes the stage.

Small bonuses stack up. Kicking the ball restores your jump, chaining hits without landing builds combo points, finishing a stage without damage earns a life, and finishing fast earns a time bonus.

You can play Curseball online for free in your browser. The soundtrack leans hard on breakbeat drums, and a few secret tips are tucked away inside for players who look.

How to Play Curseball

  • Find the ball and hit it before the timer runs out.
  • Kick the ball to restore your jump.
  • Hit it again without landing to build a combo.
  • Finish a stage without damage for a bonus life.
  • Finish fast for a time bonus.

What to Expect in Curseball

Curseball is a score chase, so each stage is about doing better than last time. Playing clean earns lives, playing fast earns time, and the combo rewards staying in the air.

Colour palettes open up as you go, and each curse changes the rules enough that the next stage never feels like a copy of the last.

Tips for Curseball

  • Kick the ball as soon as you can. It refills your jump.
  • Chain hits in the air, because the combo ends when you land.
  • Play a stage clean first, then replay it for the speed bonus.
  • Take damage only when you must. A clean stage pays out a life.
  • Watch for the hidden tips. They're worth finding, and they point out tricks you'd miss.

What is the goal in Curseball?

Hit the ball before the timer ends on every stage, and score as high as you can. You gain points from combos, a life for a stage without damage, and a time bonus for a fast finish.

That's Kultisti. Curseball came out on itch.io, and we link back to it from this page.

Can I play Curseball on a Chromebook or phone?

A Chromebook or laptop with a keyboard is the best choice. It's a fast action game with a timer running, and keys give you tighter control than taps. Try a phone only if you have nothing else, and expect it to feel less precise.

Can I change how Curseball looks?

Yes. Colour palettes become available as you play, so you can change the look of the game. It's a small reward that gives repeat runs another reason to exist, alongside the combo points and bonuses you chase on each stage.
