About Red Handed
Red Handed is a first-person stealth game with a twist in its pitch: you have to get caught. The usual rules of sneaking are turned on their head, and the look is 1-bit, with a stark two-tone palette.
It began as a jam entry. The first version was made in under three days for the Wowie game jam, whose theme was Failure is Progress, and it was later added to 7dfps. That theme explains the premise: losing is how you move forward.
You can play Red Handed online for free in your browser. This build is version 1.1.
How to Play Red Handed
- Move with W, A, S and D.
- Read the controls the game explains as you start.
- Press Y to invert the Y axis.
- Press R to reload the level if anything goes wrong.
- Get caught on purpose. That's the objective.
What to Expect in Red Handed
Red Handed turns a familiar genre around. Most stealth games ask you to stay unseen, but here being seen is the aim. That makes you look at each level differently, since you're working out how to fail on purpose instead of how to slip past.
The 1-bit look keeps things readable, with bold shapes and high contrast. A play-through runs a few minutes, and a fast time makes it a fun speedrun target.
Tips for Red Handed
- Take a moment at the start of each level to see what it asks of you.
- Press R as soon as a level feels broken. It reloads instantly.
- Press Y if the camera feels backward.
- Think about the jam theme. Failure is part of the plan.
- Come back for speedruns once you know the levels.
Who Made Red Handed
Red Handed was made by Bad Piggy and released on itch.io. Made in Unity by Bad Piggy for the Wowie game jam, later entered in 7dfps. FunClicker embeds the creator's own version so you can play it here without downloading anything. We did not make the game, and the credit for its design, code, and art belongs to its creator. You can find the original on the Red Handed page on itch.io.
FAQ
Is Red Handed free?
Yes. You can play Red Handed in your browser for free, and there's no account to make.
How do you play Red Handed?
Move with WASD and follow the controls the game explains. Press Y to invert the Y axis at any time, and R to reload a level if something goes wrong. The goal runs against most stealth games: you want to get caught.
What is the goal in Red Handed?
Getting caught is the objective, which reverses the usual aim of staying hidden. You work out how to be spotted instead. The theme of the jam it began in was Failure is Progress, which fits a game where losing is the way forward.
Who made Red Handed?
Bad Piggy is the creator of Red Handed. We play the original itch.io build here and credit it on this page.
Why does Red Handed run badly in my browser?
The web version can have problems, so try a recent browser, close other tabs, or press R to reload the level if something breaks. A Windows build of the same version is also available and tends to run more smoothly.
Can I play Red Handed on a Chromebook or phone?
A keyboard is needed for WASD, R and Y, and the first-person view is easier to control with a mouse, so a Chromebook or laptop is the right choice. A phone is not a good fit for the controls.
Is Red Handed unblocked at school?
Try it and see. Red Handed unblocked loads in the browser with nothing to install, but each school sets its own filters.
Is Red Handed a shooter?
It's a first-person game that was entered in 7dfps, but it plays as a stealth puzzle. The focus is on being caught, with 1-bit visuals, and you do not need fast reflexes to enjoy it.
