About Rising Up
Rising Up is a retro beat 'em up set in an office. You fight your way to the top of the corporate ladder with your fists, leaving a trail of paperwork, broken furniture and fallen co-workers behind you. The pixel art keeps everything bold and readable.
It's a demake, which means a modern idea rebuilt in the style of an older game. The controls are small: move, jump, attack and block.
You can play Rising Up online in a browser tab. A run lasts a few minutes, so it fits neatly into a break.
How to Play Rising Up
- Move with the arrow keys or WASD.
- Jump with Z or J.
- Attack with X or K.
- Block with C or L.
- A controller works too: use the D-pad or left stick to move, and the face buttons to jump, attack and block.
- Work your way through the office, one co-worker at a time.
What to Expect in Rising Up
Expect classic brawler energy. The setting is the joke, with desks, paperwork and angry co-workers instead of street gangs. The controls are small: move, jump, attack, block. That keeps the focus on timing and positioning.
Two layouts share the keyboard, so left-handed and right-handed players can each pick the side that suits them. Arrow keys with Z, X and C sit on one side, and WASD with J, K and L on the other.
It's short, so Rising Up free in the browser works well as a quick burst of mayhem. If you're on a phone, Chrome is the recommended browser for mobile devices.
Tips for Rising Up
- Learn the block button early and use it, since taking hits adds up.
- Pick the keyboard layout that matches your hand. Both work the same way.
- Use a controller if you have one. It's supported.
- Do not mash the attack button. Timing your hits works better.
- Keep moving through the office and take on co-workers one at a time.

Fight your way up the corporate ladder, from the bottom of the office to the top. You do it with your fists, punching through co-workers, and the trail of paperwork and broken furniture behind you shows how far you have come.
What is a demake in Rising Up?
A demake is a modern-style idea rebuilt in the look and feel of an older game. Rising Up takes that approach to the beat 'em up genre, with pixel art and retro rules, so it plays like a game from another era.
Who made Rising Up?
Rising Up was made by Eva Jørgensen. We embed the original itch.io build, and there's a link back to it on this page.

A Chromebook or laptop works well with the keyboard layouts. On a phone, Chrome is the recommended browser, though you need a way to press keys or connect a controller before it's comfortable to play.
Is Rising Up unblocked at school?
