About Thrust Factor

Thrust Factor is a difficult top-down arcade shooter where you blast through hordes of asteroids and spaceships. It's built around movement. You fly toward your mouse, boost when you need to, and fire a laser at whatever is in your way.

Enemies come in several types, and the bosses each have their own behavior. There are plenty of upgrades and abilities to find. It's an action roguelike with bullet-hell moments and a lot of speed.

You can play Thrust Factor online in a browser tab. A run takes a few minutes, and the game is still in active development, nearing its full release.

How to Play Thrust Factor

  • Hold W to fly toward the mouse.
  • Use A, S and D for directional movement.
  • Move the mouse to rotate your ship.
  • Click to fire your laser.
  • Hold Shift to boost.
  • Pick up upgrades and abilities as you go, and use the boost to get out of tight spots.

What to Expect in Thrust Factor

Expect a hard game. It's fast, the screen fills quickly, and movement matters as much as aim. Your ship follows your mouse, so the mouse does the steering and shooting while the keys handle the rest.

The movement is the draw. Flying toward the mouse and boosting gives you a momentum-based feel that's different from most shooters. Enemies and bosses behave differently from one another, so you learn them as you go.

The soundtrack is original, and the game is close to complete but still being worked on. Thrust Factor free in the browser is a good pick if you like arcade shooters that ask for skill.

Tips for Thrust Factor

  • Use the boost to escape trouble as well as to go faster. Holding Shift is your panic button.
  • Keep moving. Standing still in a bullet-hell screen does not last long.
  • Learn what each enemy type does before you take risks.
  • Watch the bosses. Each one has its own behavior to learn.
  • Pick up upgrades whenever you can. They build over the run.
