About Gelf

Gelf is a golf game where your golfer is a floppy noodle of a ragdoll. Getting the swing to land is the challenge, in the spirit of QWOP, and the ball is almost beside the point.

It was built for TOJam 12 in about two days, and it has the cheerful roughness of a jam game: one funny idea, a clear look, and no padding.

You can play Gelf online for free in your browser. A round takes a few minutes.

How to Play Gelf

  • Click inside the game window first.
  • Try the keyboard and mouse to find the swing.
  • Line up the ball and take a shot.
  • Watch how the body wobbles and adjust your next try.

What to Expect in Gelf

Gelf gets its comedy from physics. A golfer who will not stay still makes precision golf funny, and the fun lies in the near misses. Early shots go wrong in entertaining ways.

Expect a short learning curve. Once the body starts to make sense, shots begin to land, and it feels great when they do. Part of the appeal is sharing a bad swing with a friend, so it's worth passing the keyboard around.

Tips for Gelf

  • Treat the first few swings as practice and watch how the golfer moves.
  • Make small corrections after a miss, not big ones.
  • Be patient. The wobble is the joke.
  • Repeat a setup twice to see how much the physics changes the result.
  • Pass it to a friend and compare how many tries each of you needs.

Who Made Gelf

Gelf was made by nik_sg, kath and released on itch.io. Made in Unity for TOJam 12 by nik_sg and kath. Art by theknoodle, code by Nik_sg, design by both. FunClicker embeds the creator's own version so you can play it here without downloading anything. We did not make the game, and the credit for its design, code, and art belongs to its creator. You can find the original on the Gelf page on itch.io.

FAQ

Is Gelf free?

Yes. Gelf is free to play here, with nothing to buy and nothing to install.

How do you play Gelf?

Click inside the game window first, then try the keyboard and mouse. You steer a floppy ragdoll golfer and try to get the ball where it belongs. A few swings teach you how the body responds.

What kind of game is Gelf?

Gelf is a ragdoll physics golf game. Your golfer is a wobbly noodle, so every swing is a small comedy. It's short, silly and built for a few minutes of play. The joke is that golf is a game of precision, and your body refuses to cooperate, which makes every decent shot feel like a small win.

Who made Gelf?

Gelf is by nik_sg. It was first released on itch.io, and this page plays that same build.

Was Gelf made in a game jam?

Yes. It was made for TOJam 12 in roughly two days by a two-person team, one on art and one on code. That explains the small scope and the quick, jokey feel, with a rough charm that polished games rarely have, and it's a good reason to treat Gelf as a short, playful experiment and not a polished sports sim.

Can I play Gelf on a Chromebook or phone?

A Chromebook or laptop with a keyboard and mouse is the safest choice. Try a phone only if you have nothing else, and expect the floppy swing to be harder to control on a touchscreen.

Is Gelf unblocked at school?

You can try Gelf unblocked at school if your network allows this site. Nothing needs installing.

How long does Gelf take?

A round takes a few minutes. Because the physics rewards retries, you can finish quickly or spend longer chasing a smoother swing, and each try restarts in a moment, so another attempt is never far away.
