About Self Golf

Self Golf is a platforming golf game where you're the ball. To get into the hole, you have to swing a golf club at yourself, which is as awkward as it sounds.

Everything is done with the mouse. Hold a button and your character walks toward the cursor. Hold and let go, and you jump the way the cursor points. Walking, jumping and swinging at yourself make a clumsy mix, and getting that mix to land is the game.

It was made in 48 hours for Ludum Dare 41, where the theme was combining two incompatible genres, and it first came out in April 2018. The art has a rough, hand-made feel because it was a solo job. You can play Self Golf online in your browser, and Self Golf free of any download is a short, silly detour.

How to Play Self Golf

  • Use the mouse for everything.
  • Hold the mouse button to walk toward the cursor.
  • Hold and release to jump in the direction of the cursor.
  • Get into position and hit yourself with the golf club.
  • Aim to land in the hole.

What to Expect in Self Golf

It's a joke that turns into a puzzle. You're the ball, you're also the golfer, and every shot means lining yourself up first. It sounds silly, and it is, which is part of the charm.

Expect rough edges. The art is simple, and the whole game rests on one odd idea. If you like jam games that take a weird premise and stick with it, you'll enjoy it. If you want polish and a long campaign, look elsewhere.

Tips for Self Golf

  • Walk close to the cursor target first and settle, then think about the swing.
  • Keep your jumps small while you're learning the feel.
  • Take a moment to plan how you'll reach the hole. The path matters more than speed.
  • Do not rush a hit. A calm shot beats a frantic one.
  • Laugh at the failures. The game is built for them.

Who Made Self Golf

Self Golf was made by Second Dimension Games and released on itch.io. It's built in Construct and was made alone in 48 hours for Ludum Dare 41. FunClicker embeds the creator's own version so you can play it here without downloading anything. We did not make the game, and the credit for its design, code, and art belongs to its creator. You can find the original on the Self Golf page on itch.io.

The game is controlled with the mouse, so a Chromebook or laptop works well. A phone may not handle the hold-and-release controls well, so try Self Golf on a computer first.

Is Self Golf unblocked at school?

Self Golf unblocked works anywhere this page can open. It needs no download, but school networks run their own filters, so we cannot promise it will load.

What jam was Self Golf made for?

Ludum Dare 41, a 48-hour jam where the theme was combining two incompatible genres. Self Golf mixes golf and platforming by making the golfer and the ball the same character.

Is Self Golf a real golf game?

Not quite. It's a platformer with golf in it. Reaching the hole is the golf part, and walking and jumping around the level is the platformer part.
