About Diver Down
Diver Down is a stealth platformer with a strange trick: your character can sink straight into solid blocks. That's how you hide from the lights across the stages.
There are 20 stages, and the job on each one is the same, stay out of the light. You never fight anyone. The look is pixel art with a chiptune soundtrack, and the lead is a woman. Each stage turns into a small puzzle about where to stand, when to sink into a block and when to come back out.
It was made for Godot Wild Jam #2, where the theme was Hidden within, and hiding inside walls fits that neatly. You can play Diver Down online in a browser tab, and Diver Down free of any download means you can start in seconds.
How to Play Diver Down
- Move and aim with the arrow keys, or with WASD if you prefer the second layout.
- Jump with Z or C. The other layouts use J, or Space and Control.
- Sink into a solid block with X, K or Shift, depending on the layout. That hides you from the light.
- Stay out of the lights on each of the 20 stages.
- Press Enter to pause and M to mute.
What to Expect in Diver Down
This is a thinking platformer more than a twitchy one. You study where the lights fall, find the solid spot you can sink into, and time your exit. Learning a stage is half the fun.
A visit lasts a few minutes. Because it came out of a jam, it stays compact and focused on one idea. If you like stealth puzzles or platformers built around a single odd mechanic, it's worth a try.
Tips for Diver Down
- Before you move, spot the nearest solid block you could hide in. Plan the stage around it.
- Pick the control layout that feels comfortable. WASD with J and K suits some hands better than the arrow keys.
- Slow down before you step near any light. A careless step costs more than a patient one.
- Treat each stage as a puzzle. Scout it, plan your hiding spots, then go.
- Press M to mute the chiptune and Enter to pause when you need a moment to think.
Who Made Diver Down
Diver Down was made by Escada Games, Sucraiso and released on itch.io. It's built in Godot with art made in Aseprite, uses a public-domain tileset by Adam Saltsman, and is open source. FunClicker embeds the creator's own version so you can play it here without downloading anything. We did not make the game, and the credit for its design, code, and art belongs to its creator. You can find the original on the Diver Down page on itch.io.
