About quitters
quitters is a first-person parkour game set inside a huge megastructure. You play a courier who runs, climbs and glides in a wingsuit, calling on the few people who still live there. As you go, you piece together the story they all belong to.
It began as an entry for Ludum Dare 60, made in 72 hours. The version running in your browser is the later, post-jam build, and the game is still unfinished compared with the world its maker had in mind. The story has several endings, and the mood is quiet and a little eerie.
You can play quitters online in a tab with nothing to install, and quitters free means no account or download. It's a first-person parkour game with a strong lean toward story, so expect to talk to people as much as you run.
How to Play quitters
- Click inside the game window first so it takes your mouse and keyboard.
- Use the keyboard to move and the mouse to look around.
- Run, climb and glide through the megastructure as the courier.
- Talk to the people who live there and pay attention to what they say.
- Follow the story from one resident to the next.
What to Expect in quitters
The setting is the draw. A megastructure with only a few residents left makes an eerie, empty setting, and a courier moving between them is a good reason to explore. Running, climbing and gliding give you a sense of scale, and the dialogue fills in who these people are.
The pace is exploratory, not frantic. You move through a strange world, listen to its people, and watch how their stories connect. It's an atmospheric, narrative game with a liminal feel.
Tips for quitters
- Listen to every conversation. The story is told through the people you meet.
- Take your time moving through the space. The scale of the place is part of the point.
- Try the glide off high ledges, since the wingsuit is a central move.
- Replay if you want to see more than one ending.
- Treat it as a work in progress and judge it on its mood.
